Fertility Acupucture

Fertility Acupuncture,
North London

Whether you’re trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IVF, or simply want to support your reproductive health, acupuncture can be a gentle yet powerful way to help your body find balance. My aim is to help regulate your hormones, improve circulation to the reproductive organs, and support your emotional wellbeing, creating the best possible conditions for conception.

At my clinic in Finsbury Park, North London, I offer a calm, nurturing space where you can pause, rest, and allow your body to restore its natural rhythm. Every treatment is tailored to you, because everyone’s fertility journey is unique.

How Does Acupuncture Work for Fertility?

Acupuncture is deeply rooted in both traditional wisdom and modern science. When fine needles are inserted into specific points, they stimulate local nerves, which send messages to the brain via the central nervous system. This prompts the release of natural chemicals that influence many systems in the body, including the hormonal, reproductive, immune, digestive and cardiovascular systems.

For fertility, this means we can help to regulate hormones, support ovulation, improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and encourage a calm, balanced state.

My role as an acupuncturist is to select the right points to guide your body back into balance, giving it a gentle nudge so it can do the rest.

What Happens in a Fertility Acupuncture Appointment?

Your initial consultation lasts around 90 minutes. During this time, I’ll ask lots of questions to understand your full health picture, including your menstrual cycle, lifestyle, stress levels and fertility journey so far.

I’ll take your pulse, look at your tongue, and then you can settle in for your treatment. The acupuncture itself is relaxing, and many people drift into a restorative rest or fall asleep. The needles stay in for around 20–25 minutes, and you may feel a gentle, heavy or warm sensation.

Follow-up appointments last 60 minutes and include a shorter conversation about your progress before your treatment.

How Often Should I Come for Treatment?

For fertility support, I recommend weekly sessions for 8–12 weeks. Some people benefit from longer courses of treatment (up to 6 months), while others respond more quickly.

You can have acupuncture at any point in your cycle, as I’ll adapt your treatment to your phase - whether you’re menstruating, ovulating, or in the luteal stage.

If you’re about to begin IVF or assisted conception, I can also support you with acupuncture at key points in your cycle to help optimise your response and manage any side effects.

Acupuncture for Natural Fertility Can Help If You…

  • Have been trying to conceive but haven’t yet been successful, and are wondering why

  • Feel stressed, anxious or emotionally drained by the process

  • Are recovering from a miscarriage and want to support your body and mind before trying again

  • Have been told you have unexplained infertility and want to explore further

  • Are preparing for IVF but want to try a natural approach first

  • Have been diagnosed with PCOS, endometriosis, high FSH or low AMH

  • Already have a child but are struggling to conceive again

  • Would like to support your partner’s fertility health as part of a shared journey

How Acupuncture Supports Fertility

Acupuncture helps your body restore balance across the systems that are key for conception. In treatment, we may focus on:

  • Hormone balance & ovulation: regulating menstrual cycles and promoting regular ovulation

  • Uterine health: improving blood flow and endometrial lining for implantation

  • Egg & sperm quality: reducing oxidative stress and supporting healthy cellular development

  • Immune & inflammatory balance: calming inflammation that can affect conception and early pregnancy

  • Stress & emotional wellbeing: reducing cortisol levels and promoting relaxation

  • Sleep & energy: supporting restorative rest, which is crucial for reproductive health

  • Digestive health: improving nutrient absorption and blood sugar balance

  • Lifestyle support: exploring diet, exercise, and rest to strengthen your body for conception

When Should I Start Fertility Acupuncture?

Ideally, it’s best to start three months before trying to conceive or three months before beginning IVF. This allows enough time for acupuncture to positively influence egg and sperm development, as eggs take around 90 days to mature and sperm around 60.

Regular, consistent treatment during this period can make a significant difference to your fertility outcomes.

Acupuncture and IVF

Acupuncture works beautifully alongside IVF. It can help improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, regulate hormone levels, and reduce stress.

A 2023 meta-analysis showed that acupuncture can increase IVF live birth rates by around 33%, highlighting just how effective it can be when integrated into fertility care.

Male Fertility

Fertility is a shared journey. An embryo is 50% sperm and 50% egg, so it’s equally important to support male fertility. Acupuncture can improve sperm count, motility and morphology, while also helping to manage stress and overall wellbeing.
